Notes on the requirements to enter the US

To attend useR! 2010, you must first enter the US, and requirements for that have recently changed.

All nationals and citizens of Visa Waiver Program (VWP) countries who plan to travel to the US for temporary business or pleasure for 90 days or less are required by law to obtain travel authorization prior to initiating travel to the United States. This authorization can be obtained online through the Electronic System for Travel Authorization (ESTA), a free Internet application administered by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.

Travelers from countries not in the VWP are still required to obtain a visa for entry into the United States.

Registrants who require a letter of invitation as part of the visa application process should request one in an email message to useR-2010 at R-project.org.
